Since no by-election was requested by our community during the 28-day notification period that ended on 2 April 2026, the Board is now moving to fill the position by selection. This is a standard process under the Education and Training Act 2020.
We welcome expressions of interest from any eligible member of our community; you do not need to be a parent of a current student to join us. We are looking for someone who might bring experience in finance or property, or someone who is well-connected and active in our local Thames community with a genuine interest in our students’ success and the skills to help govern our school effectively.
(Note: Candidates must be NZ citizens or permanent residents and meet the standard eligibility criteria for school board members.)
The successful candidate will be selected to join the Board and will have full voting rights. You will serve until the next triennial elections in September 2028. The role involves attending about eight meetings a year, with six meetings left for 2026, and staying up to date with the school’s governance and policy.
If you’d like to be considered, please send a brief email to our Board Secretary, Tracey Reed, at traceyreed@thameshigh.school.nz
Please include a short profile of yourself, a recent photo, and a bit about why you’re interested in joining the Board.
Expressions of Interest closes Wednesday 22 April 2026 (4 pm)
