Pastoral advisor/manager
(Fixed Term Part-time)

(32.5 hours per week, term time only, fixed term to the end of 2021)

We seek a skilled, restorative, and relational person for this new role within our pastoral team.  The role entails working alongside senior leadership team in a pastoral capacity.  The role is fixed term as we are trialling this approach in our pastoral system for 2021.

The successful candidate will work as a team member within the pastoral care network (including guidance counsellor, careers advisor, nurse) and behaviour management structure of the school.  You will promote pastoral teamwork, academic success, and a collaborative approach between whānau, staff and students.  The role supports students getting guidance and pastoral support and responding to behaviour within a restorative practice framework to cultivate and maintain a spirit of whanaungatanga within the school.

Candidates should state relevant experience or training as part of their application.

Start date as soon as possible after the closing date by mutual agreement.

Our school is situated on the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula in a friendly semi-rural and coastal environment with approximately 450 Y9-13 students.  This area abounds in tramping, boating, camping and many other outdoor activities.  The school’s priority is to ensure equity and excellence for all and a strong commitment to cultural responsivity.

We are seeking a passionate careers/course pathways advisor who will provide professional course and subject choice advice, career development education, both to groups and individual students, and support teachers to integrate careers information. The role includes working with our Gateway and Trades Academy Coordinator. You will have a passion to support students’ transition through school life and beyond to tertiary learning, apprenticeships, or work, knowledge of the Career Development Benchmarks, Gateway, Trades Academy and STAR resources is an advantage. We wish to continue and strengthen our Careers Expo, drivers licence programmes, tertiary presentations, and maintain strong links with WINTEC and their Trades Academy. Applicants will need to actively maintain our present networks and further develop business relationships with a wide sector of our community and partner industries to meet the diverse aspirations of our students.

The role includes a teaching component, ideally, that will include vocational education courses that complement our Gateway and Trades courses. Please state other subject strengths.
