THS Teaching position application form

Guidance Counsellor
(Permanent)

We seek a guidance counsellor to join our collaborative pastoral care team.  The counsellor will work closely with the pastoral network and be responsible for counselling students.

Teacher registration is not a requirement of this role though having experience in a secondary school or similar youth-oriented setting is an advantage.  Our counsellor should be qualified and registered with NZAC or equivalent professional body.

The successful applicant will be able to build trusting relationships with both taiohi / students and kaimahi / staff to ensure quality guidance and support.

Hours are 32.5 hours per week, 5 days a week, 8.30 am – 4.00 pm (including half-hour lunch break) during term time only.

The position requires good communication and interpersonal skills.

Start date term 1, January 2022.

Science Technician

Fixed Term part-time

We seek a Science Technician to support the work of a busy Science department.  It is an advantage to have relevant qualifications and experience working in a laboratory environment and have up-to-date knowledge of the Laboratory Code of Practice for schools.

With an emphasis on safe working practices, you will provide assistance to the practical needs of the science department.  Your duties will be varied and include equipment management, ordering, preparing practical equipment, and making up solutions.  You will have good communication skills and a flexible, self-motivated attitude with an aptitude for organisation and a willingness to learn.  Training will be provided to the successful applicant.

12 hours per week (term time only).

Start date term 1, 2022.

Music itinerant guitar and bass

Fixed Term part-time

We seek an itinerant music teacher with the ability to teach guitar and bass.

The ability to teach small groups of taiohi from beginner to NCEA Level 3 is expected.  Please state other skills in your application.

All potential candidates must be a New Zealand registered teacher or have a limited authority to teach (LAT) or be willing to apply for a LAT.

Hours will be 6 hours (1 day per week neg.) term time only.
