Outdoor education offers a transformative learning experience that goes beyond the confines of traditional classrooms. It immerses students in the natural world, fostering a deep connection to the environment.
In outdoor education students learn teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills as they navigate challenging terrain, work together to achieve common goals, and adapt to unpredictable situations. This experiential learning builds resilience and self-confidence, empowering young individuals to face future challenges with a strong sense of self-efficacy.
Much of the course takes place at school with lessons covering both the practical and theoretical aspects of each pursuit. Once students have adequate skills, knowledge and an awareness of the risks, there is the opportunity to be assessed in the activities’ natural setting.
It is essential that as many students as possible take part in these activities which are well supervised.
The school always welcomes the assistance of parents in this area of education.
