Our Get 2 Go Team competing in the final at the OPC centre on Great Barrier have made a great start to the week long competition.
After getting off the ferry on Sunday the competition started with a long Kayak, a 12km uphill run through thick bush and a raft building and race. Our team finished the day, narrowly in second place behind New Plymouth.
Monday’s events started with a sailing challenge, with THS beating New Plymouth, the afternoon’s event was a cooking challenge which wasn’t our team’s forte but they still managed good points. So still tussling with New Plymouth.
Tuesday’s was an up and down day for our team, with 5 challenges overall but finishing with a raft building and race, THS finished this in 6th place. The team is all packed for over night expedition and ready to go. No more score updates, so no idea where teams now lie.
Wednesday’s saw the team compete in challenges in swimming, high ropes, climbing wall, kayaking and a balancing challenge. Then they built a solid raft to paddle to Kaikoura Island for a 16km orienteering and overnight camp.
Thursday’s challenge is a whole day rogaine, which could be water and/or land based. Our team has chosen to do 7 hours on foot which will definitely test them! After this there is one more short activity and the wait for the results!
Congratulations to our team who finished in 3rd place, just behind Whangarei and New Plymouth.
