Rugby Final Results – TV Secondary Schools Competition

The finals of the Thames Valley Secondary School rugby competition were held at Paeroa Domain on Saturday 17th August. Congratulations to all three of our teams (and their coaching and management staff) who competed in their finals – it was a wonderful achievement to have all of our teams in the final for a second year.

The 4th Grade team lost to Hauraki Plains College 15-5 in a keenly contested game. Although they lost the final, the team can be proud of their achievements in winning the first round cup, the challenge shield and the second round cup.

The Development team went down to Waihi College 12-10 after leading for most of the game. The team played with real commitment and determination, going very close to creating an upset. The Waihi College team were unbeaten during the season and their win in the final caps off a very successful season for them.

The 1st XV retained the Coulter Cup by winning their final against Waihi College 1st XV by 27-22. This was always going to be the tough match, with each of the teams having beaten the other during the season. In the end, the experience and commitment of the Thames team came through and resulted in their winning the final for the second consecutive year.
