Industrial Action by PPTA Members

Following on from the strike action last Wednesday, members of the Post Primary Teacher’s Association (PPTA) will be involved in further industrial action in the coming weeks. This is part of action that is being taken throughout NZ.

From next week, teachers will be involved in ‘rostering home’ – this means that teachers who are PPTA members (and that is most of our teachers) will not teach particular year levels on particular days. The schedule of action is:

  • Tuesday 4th June Year 9
  • Tuesday 11th June Year 10
  • Tuesday 25th June Year 11
  • Tuesday 2nd July Year 12

This means that classes will not run for year 10 students on 11th June, for year 11 students on 25th June and for year 12 students on 2nd July. We will not be able to provide supervision for these students – we do not have enough nonPPTA teachers for this to happen.
