Practice Makes Perfect

This is the season for Derived Grade examinations. These have replaced the old “prelims” or “mock examinations. The English Department conducted examinations on Thursday and Friday last week and other subjects will be following in the next few weeks. These are essential for a number of reasons:
  • Firstly they are a requirement of NZQA as these are the grades the school will use if a student is unable, through illness or family reasons, to sit the actual examination.
  • Derived Grades are also invaluable for both students and teachers to gauge how much preparation they need to do for the NZQA external examinations in November and targets specific areas where students need to build skills.
