On Thursday the 27th and Friday the 28th of August, music students at Thames High School were given the exciting opportunity of participating in a range of performance and songwriting sessions presented by L.A.B. Lead Vocalist Joel Shadbolt. The two day workshop, made possible by the NZ Music Industry Commission, focused on developing group performance skills, as well as collaborative songwriting.
Five groups of senior students were able to work with Joel on their NCEA group performance presentations and take these to the next level. All of these students are looking forward to confidently present these performances at the assessment sessions on Tuesday the 15th and Wednesday the 16th of September. With the junior and senior songwriting sessions, students were divided up into small groups, given a songwriting brief and then given a timeframe for all working on these tasks collaboratively. A great time was had by all.
