School’s back – Thursday 15 February 2023

Kia ora e te whānau (parents, caregivers, students)

An update to confirm that Thames High School will be OPEN from tomorrow (Thursday 15 February)

We know that it is important to get back to normal as much as possible, and look forward to staff and students returning tomorrow.

We will start the day, at 8.45 am, with Rōpū / Whānau time to check in and organise the day ahead, followed by regular classes.

We acknowledge that there are still issues with roads, in particular the Coast Road. We have the capacity to cover staff affected, and therefore we can safely operate the school. Please follow road safety guidelines and only travel if safe to do so.

Buses
– The Tapu and Te Puru buses are not operating.
– The Kauaeranga bus also will not operate, although we understand that cars may travel (at least single lane access).
– The Puriri – Thames bus will be operating (we will advise if this changes).

Those affected by bus transportation issues will be recorded as a justified absence, there is no need to call the office.

Some bus students may be able to travel by car tomorrow morning, depending on road conditions, and if that is the case – and it is safe – then we look forward them being at school too. They should report to student support office and get recorded as present at school.

Online learning for those unable to come to school
Those not able to come to school should check their Google Classrooms for any work set by teachers. Please contact teachers directly about this. Those who engage in online learning will then be recorded as completing online learning (and present).

We look forward to seeing everyone not affected by road closures back at school.
