Celebrating Achievements: Thames High School House Activities Day/Athletics 2024
Thursday 22 February marked a day of spirited competition as our students participated in the House Activities Day/Athletics event. Amidst cheers and a heated Pūkana game, our talented athletes showcased their skills, leaving an indelible mark on the record books.
Among the standout performances of the day, two remarkable achievements stand out:
Ellie Johnson Breaks Intermediate Girls Triple Jump Record: With a breathtaking leap of 9.82 meters, Ellie Johnson soared past the previous record set by R Juby in 2021, establishing herself as the new record holder and inspiring us all with her incredible athleticism and determination.
Isayah Boyd Sets New Intermediate Boys High Jump Record: Isayah Boyd’s remarkable performance saw him scale new heights, quite literally, as he cleared an impressive 1.82 meters in the High Jump event. Surpassing the previous record held by C Veal since 2019, Isayah’s achievement is a testament to his hard work, talent, and dedication to his sport.
We couldn’t be prouder of Ellie, Isayah, and all our athletes who competed with passion and sportsmanship.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the staff, and volunteers who contributed to the success of the day. A special mention to our students who recorded the day via drone and shared some amazing bird’s eye view images! Your dedication and enthusiasm make moments like these possible, and we’re grateful for your unwavering support.
As we reflect on the incredible achievements of House Activities Day/Athletics 2024, let’s continue to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship, Manaakitanga and Whakamana that define our school community.
We’re thrilled to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all our Athletic age group champions for 2024! Their dedication, hard work, and unwavering determination have truly shone through. Here are the results:
