Gareth is deeply committed to student success, believing that education extends beyond the classroom. His leadership experience includes roles as Housemaster, Head of Department, Junior School Dean, and Hostel Manager. He has also contributed to school life through coaching, the Duke of Edinburgh programme, and leadership committees.
An accomplished educator and athlete, Gareth has represented New Zealand in duathlon and triathlon and has coached athletes to national success.
Gareth is looking forward to joining our kura and becoming part of the school community. As he puts it:
“Tēnā koutou katoa, It is with great excitement and humility that I introduce myself as the new Deputy Principal of this vibrant kura whānau. My leadership approach is inspired by the whakataukī, “Mahia te mahi hei painga mo te iwi,” which means “Work for the betterment of the people.” I am dedicated to creating a kura where every ākonga (student) and kaiako (teacher) can flourish, and where we all work together in a spirit of whanaungatanga (relationship) to build a strong, inclusive community. I look forward to walking alongside you all, supporting one another, and ensuring that we continue to grow and succeed as a hapori.”
Gareth will officially join us on Monday, 19 May, and we look forward to welcoming him to our school community.
Nau mai, haere mai!
