As one of the region’s best high-school rugby players, Thames High School’s Mitchell Murphy was selected to join the Chiefs Under 18s training camp in Hamilton recently. Based at St Paul’s Collegiate, the camp was five days long, and as Mitchell writes, it wasn’t just about kicking the ball around.

A group of 11 students from Misaki in Japan visited Thames High School in August, joining classes including PE, Food, Drama and Maori. The students and their teachers also visited a local goldmine, and Thames South School, as well as going rock-climbing and doing a bit of shopping in Hamilton.
